Can TableTool buttons be moved outside of the wrapper?

I am new to using jquery and I am trying to find a way to (if possible) not have the table tools buttons right above the table but rather to add them to a dropdown button menu that I have for other page actions.

Is there a simple way to do this? So far what I have read seems to be about modifying the buttons within the datatables wrapper.
