Datatables Server Side with Laravel

Hi
Does anyone have an example of showing child rows for a selected record from a different table . I have got the open/close of the child row working where I can display extra data from the selected record. I need the logic to use an ajax call to get data from the controller from another table and display these records for the parent ...... How can this be done?
