Replacing the global search field with a search on specific column

Hi!
I am a new bie here. I have started using this plug in only two hours ago. So pardon me if I am being dumb.
My query is, how do I make the global search field (the search field at the top) search only in one specific column? (say column number 3) And also make it accept regex?
I do not even know how to proceed with this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
