I have never encountered this issue and the same function being called in Sharepoint 2010 site, is giving the aforementioned error linking to some jquery file.
Yep, we've not seen it either, if you search on the forum it's not been reported, so if it is something to do with DataTables, it'll be some unusual interaction which we'd need a test case to be able to diagnose.
The error was due to the webpart on the page which wasn't allowing the datatable to load.
